This is my second GE waterheater . My old one lasted 22 years without no issues. Why I ordered another GE tank. But this second waterheater tank came with dent at the bottom. Didn™™t see any packaging damage. Reported this to GE and Wayfair.
Waterheater was installed since the old one was taken out. So far waterheater is running fine.

This water heater is trash. It™™s only 18 months old and the control box went out. I had to pay a plumber to come put a new one in . When I called they sent me a new part at no charge but only because they have had so many complaints on this particular control box. 4 days later the new box goes out. Now best case senerio they send me another box that I have to pay another plumber $200 to change this box out that may or may not work for 2 days. They had a recall on the box but evidently done nothing to correct the problem. I might as well bite the bullet and go ahead and purchase another brand water heater

A cheaper version than what I bought 14 years ago. Not a fan of plastic replacing metal on the gas valve drain valve and pressure release valve. But this is the world we live in. Seems to heat water great. Looks good. I guess the blinking led light is an interesting feature that I didn™™t need at all but had to pay for. Hope it last 10-15 years without flooding my basement.

After 1 year and 6 months this water heater quit working. It gave a code of High Temperature Shutdown. You can not talk to a technician to try and trouble shoot it. I was given the following phone numbers: 800-626-2005,800-943-8186,800-432-2737 and 800-621-5622. After 1 hour and a half I have yet to talk to a technician and attempt to trouble shoot. Once they found out I was out of the yr warranty then it was no longer their responsibility and I was find a plumber on my own. The product might be okay but the automated service and larger number of departments combine with the expert advice of talk to someone else, "Here is the phone number you need to call" makes this product almost worthless in my book. I would strongly recommend finding another company to buy from .

GE has always been a brand that I feel I could rely on. With this hot water heater I feel no different. Installation took about two hours for the plumber. After watching the plumber I feel like I could have installed it in my own, but I don™™t like taking chances when it comes to gas appliances. There are many safety features on the unit, which I appreciate. There is only my husband and I in the house so the 40 gallon size works very well for us. The water is always hot. I™™m happy with it and would recommend it to others!

My water heater broke down and I've gotten this just in time. I'm somewhat an intermediate DIYer so I tried installing this by myself. Overall, everything went well.. Perfect size for my house. Durable, easy to navigate and install and works as it should. Two thumbs up and definitely recommended for those average size house looking for a water heater.

Very easy installation for this unit. We have had no issues since installing this hot water heater for our family of 3. Always plenty of hot water for us to shower after each other and no one is left with cold water at the end. Husband had installed in about an hour.

My husband and his buddy just recently installed this hot water heater in our basement. His first impression was that it was not difficult to set up. He had to adjust for the tallness of it, but it was easy enough. He was able to get it installed within an hour. We are a family of 3 and have not had any issues with running out of hot water. He is happy that it has an anode rod as it will help with not rusting as fast as other brands. He is interested and is reading up on the LED indicator that reports on gas system statuses. We needed 2 people to get it into our basement as it is heavy! We are very happy with the GE RealMAX Classic 40 gallon gas water heater and we will have years of use with it. Thank you GE for making such a quality product.

We™™re extremely impressed,the delivery was effortless! It was packaged exceptionally well and delivered safely,my husband and my son carried it down to the basement and installed it themselves. It took about 2 hours with cleaning up and having hot water running into the sink!!!! I love the LED features where you can see everything instead of what are old one which was from 2006 had to get under it! We have been using it now about 3 weeks with out any issues and it™™s is really impressive!! It™™s taller then are old one but not an issue. Definitely happy and impressed!

We set this up as a tandem to our current water heater. (Same size) boy the difference is amazing! My husband has a novice experience in installing water heaters. This was my first. We spent a Saturday getting this installed. And didn™™t really have any issues. We™™ve had it now for 6 weeks and we have yet to run out of hot water. It™™s great! I definitely recommend!

I want to say that I am a supporter of GE products, their products are well made and built to last. As far as this GE hot water tank, we had it installed the weekend it was delivered. It was delivered on a friday and we installed it on a saturday. We have had it installed for about 1 week now without problems. The item was delivered and packed well. I had my father in law help me move it to the basement and install it after we drained and removed our old one. The setup was well explained in the manual and after we installed it the pilot light worked right away, we had hot water within the hour after installing it. The paper manual was inside the box as well as available online where I also registered our hot water heater. The serial number and all that available information was also available online to be able to download and save. We have not run out of hot water yet, with the size of our family we do so much laundry and dishes. We have not had an issue with running out of hot water in the evenings for baths and showers.

This water heater was so easy to install that it took more time to get the old one out then it took to install the new one! Let's talk about how quick the hot water replenishes because that is super important!.We took 4 showers without running out of hot water! That is unheard of with the others that we have had! I absolutely love it and I highly recommend!
