This has been garbage since day one. Clothes dont get clean, balancing issues with every load whether it be just a blanket, full load, or partial load. High efficiency my as*! With the constant balancing issue you go through 3-4 loads worth of water before it finally spins out. Don't buy!

We recently bought a home around 9 months ago that had this washer and matching dryer in it. They™™d bought these less than 3 years prior. We were told by the previous owners that the washing machine was finicky. They™™d bought these were not kidding- it constantly leaks water when washing and doesn™™t spin out anything with sheets or towels in it- it will simply just shut off. Nothing makes it work, if you even have one blanket in there it will stop mid cycle. I™™ve read numerous reviews on this through various webpages, a lot of users experience similar issues. Buyers beware.

Probability the worst quality appliance I™™ve ever purchased. The machine quite literally leaves your clothes covered in soap when on any mode other than Towel or Comforter. I would give it 0 stars if I could. We have had this washer for 5 years. During the 1 year we were having issues. The repair technician came out and had to order parts. It took weeks to get the part to complete the repair, but at least it was under warranty. Then the machine would occasionally leak. The tech was out several times and could never find a cause. Finally, about 2 month ago, it was having electrical issues and wouldn't work at all. After the tech was out 4 times trying different parts over the span of 2 months we were told there was no repair. ABSOLUTE PIECE OF GARBAGE. DO NOT BUY.

I have owned this washer almost 4 years. It is my nemesis! I am 68 yrs old and I have never, ever had to readjust a load 4 times, each time you have a waiting period. While it adds water making the load heavier still. It is always off balance no matter the load size. So towel cycle helps if the load is heavy. Nothing helps if it™™s a light load. Now the sensor is cause a huge electricity drain. The electric meter runs crazy during the water level sensing.! I have always wondered why there wasn™™t a recall on this washer. Looking at a Maytag. Never again GE!

After fighting with this washing machine for a few years we finally gave up and replaced it. The machine itself never broke down and easily connected to the GE app, but it was constantly out of balance no matter how many times we tried to solve the issue. Neither adjusting the leveling nor changing the way we adjusted the loads worked. From our standpoint the issue was due to the impeller. Needless to say our new washer has an agitator and we are not experiencing the same balancing issues.

If I could give this washer 0 stars I would. Do not buy this washer. It is the biggest piece of junk I™™ve ever bought. Just to wash a load of clothes I have to use the drain and spin function 5 times. It makes the weekly task of laundry take us 2-3 days instead of 1. The detergent dispenser stopped working about 2 years ago, full of detergent but doesn™™t work. It™™s supposed to hold a large capacity but can™™t handle 10 pairs of women™™s size large thin pajama pants. If I could afford to buy a new washer I would and throw this junk in the trash.

I purchased this set GTW840CPNDG of washer and dryer for my birthday in May 2020. It was my 1st brand new set. I purchased from Costco. The reason I chose these was bc of the option to fully fill the washer up with water. Also bc it had the prewash and soak option. All of which I use often and have been so useful for me. I have always made sure not to wash loads that were very big. I mainly wash loads of towels for my business. I have not had not even One problem with this washer. I have changed out the springs in them this summer (2024) as they were worn out. This is thee Best large purchase I have made of any appliance. I only wish all appliances worked this well. Worst washer I have ever owned. I didn't pick it, it came with my house, and I can't wait to replace it. The only problem I have (but it's a big annoyance) is that the spin cycle doesn't work consistently. Washing what I consider a normal load (1 week of clothes for 1 person), on the Colors setting, the spin cycle consistently fails to balance and aborts, leaving the clothes still absolutely soaked. This happens about 3 times out of 4. Then I have to divide the load in half, manually balance it, run the drain and spin cycle again for each half before I transfer them to the dryer. This all adds an extra 30-60 minutes and several more manual interactions to the process. I've never had this problem with any other washer, so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to just work.

I got the washer and dryer set from some family when I moved into my new place. The only issue I've had is with the balancing cycle once the washer starts to drain the water from the load. If there are too many articles of clothing, then it throws it off balance and makes it difficult to get it back in sync. Its been used for awhile now, so that being said, overall it has done its job getting my clothes cleaned!

We were so excited to have a large capacity washer only to find out it has all kinds of balance problems so can only do small to medium size loads. Constant issues with having to remove wet clothes and put them back in the machine more balanced or taking out part of the wet load so spin cycle will work. Also issues with lid lick codes firing which don™™t allow washer to spin. Worst washer I have ever owned!

This machine only lasted about 3 years. The part that goes under the impeller completely disintegrated. We had never experienced something like this with other washer machines. We started seeing pieces of shredded metal and grey water when washing the clothes. We had a technician check it and gave us a high estimate to have it fixed. I believe this is a manufacturer defect however the limited 10 year warranty only covered the motor. There's a reason why they discontinued this model yet GE won't replace defective parts. Also, it's really difficult to get assistance over the phone.

We purchased this washer in Nov 2021, so it's less than 2 years old as I write this review. The drain pump has failed and we had to order the drain assembly which is backordered for over 1 month! What?! Insane...So at the moment, I'm either doing laundry at the laundromat (costly!) or at my brother's house. Prior to purchasing this washer, we read other reviews where the automatic soap dispensing system did not work after short time in use. Ours never had any issue with the soap dispensing, thank goodness. TIP: We do add a 1/4 to 1/2 cup of hot water each time we refill the liquid detergent to prevent any buildup or clogging in the system. I think this works well. Nevertheless, we are pretty satisfied with the performance and efficiency of this washer. I just wish GE sourced better quality parts so that issues don't come up within the first 2 years of use!
