It is not only a beautiful red color to match all of my other KitchenAid appliances, but it offers such great features. I love dark (really dark) toast. I find that on select level 1 I have my dark toast and I love the fact that it dings when toast is ready. Bagel setting helps to warm bread for people who do not like the darker toast. I really wish the no. 1 setting was a little lighter for my other family members.

Bought this to replace an old, inefficient toaster, and glad we did. It has several features built in, the best of which is the self-centering of the brackets to accommodate the size of bread, bagel or English muffin. The only drawback we found is the size of the toaster. It is larger than most and takes up an entire cabinet shelf or must be housed on the countertop.

Burns on lowest setting

I wanted to love this toaster, but it chars toast on the lowest setting. While it might be okay for regular bread on 1, more sensitive things, like biscuits, get overly toasted even on the lowest setting. If you toast something back to back it will completely burn it on low (see pic). Take a look at Amazon reviews and you'll see many people complain about this. It's a great looking toaster and matches well with our KitchenAid mixer, which is why we bought it, but it does a poor job at its basic function. At first I thought I bought a lemon, so I contacted KitchenAid. I have to say KitchenAid's service is excellent and they immediately sent me a replacement toaster in exchange, but alas, this new one has exactly the same problem. It should be such a simple fix. KitchenAid, if you're listening, send me a schematic and I'll review it and see if there is a simple fix. By the way, I had the previous version of this toaster and it worked great for 11 years. It always made perfect toast; seems you lost the formula. The picture shows a biscuit toasted on the lowest level (after it had been scraped of the worst burnt bits). P.S. Get rid of the beep or make it optional.

Very disappointed.

Not happy with this toaster. It does not toast evenly at all, and the "ready" tone is silly, it sounds at the same time as it goes up, which is loud enough. The measurements were not correct so it doesn't fit where we planned on storing it. Right now it's back in the box, and I'm using my old Sunbeam because it seems better to me now after using this expensive one and not happy. And the red color is cheesy, very plastic color.

This was a Christmas gift. We asked for a 4 slice toaster to upgrade from a 2 slice other brand toaster. We thought a KA toaster would have no problems, so we unpackaged it to conserve space traveling back home with our family of 6. Upon setting it up a few weeks later, I adjusted the setting to a 2.5 to make toast. The toast took very long and was very dark. The toast lever is also difficult to push down and latch. I adjusted to the lowest setting and I still get medium dark toast, what I would expect from a 3 or 4 setting. The toast is also uneven, one side is how I like it and the other side is darker than I like. For the price, I think I could have got 2-3 toasters that are "cheaper" but work better.

This toaster has a great retro look. I love that it's not just a four-slice toaster, you can also set different settings for each side. This works out great because I like my toast dark and my husband likes his light! It toasts perfectly with an easy dial setting. I also like that each side has it's own little crumb tray. The half that works is great!

Slightly disappointed. My husband bought it for me last Christmas. I didn't unbox it until several months later. The left side of the toaster does NOT work. You push the lever down and it won't stay down. We kept using it because we tossed our other toaster when we opened up this one. I haven't done anything about it, because I'm afraid nothing would get done because we have had it for so long and the working side has been used quite a bit. Would be a great toaster if both sides worked.

I purchased this toaster about aa month ago and so far I am just loving it. I have an all red and black theme in my kitchen. I try hard to stay in that theme and with Kitchen Aid it is both easy and beautiful. In addition to its looks and the MOST important part is the quality of the equipment. The dial to darkness setting works just as stated. I is one thru 5 and at one the toast comes out just golden brown and for Bagel you just pop it to 2 and hit the bagel button another golden brown and heated all through the slots are large enough you can almost place the whole bagel in the slot. Wonderful Toaster

We just purchased this toaster to replace a cheap toaster and it's well worth the money. We love how much capacity it has as well as how it has individual toasting features. I have never had a Kitchenaid appliance that wasn't worth spending the money. They always stand the test of time.

Great Toaster with a Great Look!!

The Kitchen Aid toaster has been great to have in our kitchen. The slots are big, so you can toast bagels easily, and it dings when the item is ready, and the settings are on target on expectations of level of toasting. I am very impressed with quality and durability of the toaster, but of course it's a Kitchen Aid, so wouldn't expect anything less. Also, the color just gives it the perfect look to match our kitchen!!

Excellent Toaster

although I do wish that it was offered in black stainless to match my other appliances. I am very happy with this toaster. I like that it has a light up indicator to show that the unit is cooking and that there is such a variety of toasting levels. I used to have to crank up the setting on my old toaster in order to toast thicker breads, but this one toasts even thick hearty bread on the medium setting. The beeping noise when the toasting is complete is nice since I have a tendency to be doing other things while using it; although in the morning the beep is a bit loud. Also, the cord holder on the bottom of the unit make is easy to hide excess length to keep counters clear and clutter free. When I ran it through a cycle the first time (without food in it), the toaster did smell (I have had this experience with other toasters as well). But since then, any strange smells have vanished.

Love this toaster!

I got this as a bridal shower gift, and my hubby and I have been nothing but pleased since we got it. The steel finish wipes clean easily and looks very sleek, and the 4 slots are perfect for when guests come over. The bagel feature is also a nice touch.

Amazing toaster

I love this toaster. It fits bagels perfectly and the darkness setting actually matches what you put in. Only reason I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars is because of the price.
